With the ongoing eruption of Taal Volcano that began last January 12, thousands of families were displaced and needed to be evacuated from their homes. This humanitarian crisis has necessitated calls to provide aid and relief to these families during this time of need.
Continuing on its promise to Make the World a Better Place, Etiqa Philippines organized a donation drive, relief distribution, and medical mission caravan to help alleviate some of the hardships that our brothers and sisters in Batangas are presently experiencing.
Beginning January 16, 2020, Etiqa employees provided donations of relief goods through collection boxes found throughout the office. Standard items for relief packages were also procured by the company for distribution to the affected families. The proceeds collected were packed by volunteer employees and were distributed on January 24, 2020 at the Parish and National Shrine of Saint Padre Pio located in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Over 450 individuals were being housed in the said evacuation center belonging to 117 families. Etiqa executives and employees in coordination with local volunteer workers helped in the distribution of the relief packs among the families.
On the same day, Etiqa Philippines, in partnership with Honda Philippines, Inc., Mercer & Marsh, and Home Health Care, conducted a medical mission at the Sambat Elementary School in Tanauan, Batangas. 7 volunteer doctors helped to provide free medicine and medical consultations to the 118 families comprised of 288 individuals occupying the said school, including Etiqa’s very own Dra. Luisa C. Mamaril, AVP of the Medical Operations Division and Dra. Fe Santiago de Leon, Manager for APE, Wellness, and Medical Resources.
As part of Etiqa Philippines’ growing list of CSR initiatives, it is hoped that these small gestures can help bring smiles among our fellow countrymen who are enduring this disaster.
